Step by Step

A site for a non-profit helping teenagers and young adults with autism: everything about the organisation in one place, for foundations and parents, with donations collected on the site.

Introduction:

The client is Step by Step, a non-profit organisation that helps people with ASD and other mental development disorders. It works on the social adaptation of teenagers and young adults with autism and other developmental disorders, on social inclusion and on lifelong support.

The site was commissioned by Svetlana Artemova, the director of the organisation — we had already worked together on the Spectrum project, and before that I had done a site of this kind for Aukids.

The site was needed for three things at once: the organisation’s entry into the Presidential Grants Foundation competition, presenting all the information about the organisation in one place, and collecting donations for its further work.

The “About us” section explains what the organisation does: preparing teenagers and young adults with ASD for independent living, and classes at the training centre.

How it went:

Svetlana and I met and agreed on a plan for what came next. First I had to work out the structure of the site so that Svetlana could write the texts against it — we put the structure together in a shared document.

In parallel I developed the visual identity for Step by Step.

Along the way Svetlana had the idea of showing a large amount of information about the organisation’s plans in a single block. From her sketches I built the “Development strategy” block.

The team section: the director, the supervisor and the project curator — a parent can see at once who exactly works with the children and what qualifications the specialists have.

I set up the crowdfunding with the Leyka plugin under a contract with YooKassa: a visitor picks an amount and sends the donation right on the site.

Result:

The organisation now has a single place where all the information about it is gathered — for foundations, partners and parents — with a structure that already fits the requirements of grant competitions.

Donations are accepted right on the site: a visitor picks an amount and sends the money without leaving for a third-party service.

You know how it goes sometimes: from the morning on nothing works out, everything drags, nothing comes together, you snap at everyone… That was exactly my morning today. And then I sat down, opened my phone, and there was your message, and I open the site… And I like all of it, all of it, absolutely all of it!!! It has turned out great! And my bad mood was gone. ))

Thank you for the site and for the therapy session too. )
